Fulgencio Batista: Betrayed by the United States and Thrown to the Communist Wolves in an Inexplicable Failure of the Eisenhower Administration

Fulgencio Batista made the cover of Time Magazine after his being elected President of Cuba in 1940

He murdered peasants he suspected of disloyalty, ordered mass public executions of thousands of his opponents, dragged long-haired youth off the street and sent them off to work camps, banned free speech and filled the prisons with thousands of those political opponents of his that he didn’t murder outright and his name was Fulgencio Batista? Right?

Wait a minute…hold on…now, I remember…no, no, no – actually it was Batista’s successor who did all of those things and his name was Fidel Castro.

Perhaps if Batista had been as brutal as his successor, Castro, he might have remained in power and ultimately, the people of Cuba would have benefited. He was not – unfortunately for the majority of people living in Cuba. In fact, Batista was rather lenient in dealing with revolutionaries. Exhibit “A,” when the Castro Brothers led their first unsuccessful revolution to overthrow the Batista government, they were sentenced to prison. Later, Castro would summarily (that means without due process of the law) execute people who had done only a fraction of what the Castro brothers themselves had done years earlier. In fact, feeling sorry for the young Fidel and his brother, Batista commuted their sentences and they ended up spending less than two years in prison. That alone, as much as anything, represents the stark differences in styles of governance between Batista and Fidel Castro.

Batista, after winning election in 1940, established a constitution and attracted industries which created jobs for Cuban workers. Before he was illegally ousted from office in a revolution marked by a bloodbath of mass executions, Cubans enjoyed the highest standard of living in all of Latin America. The previous fact is undisputed and documented in numerous studies and comparative economic reports from the era.

So, let’s examine the charges against Batista – shall we?

Charge One: Batista was a dictator.

Yes, although first elected, he did later refuse to step down but he was also fighting a subversive revolutionary force. Oh, I almost forgot, Fidel was also a dictator who, unlike Batista, had never been elected to so much as the office of Dog Catcher. I don’t know, point to Batista on this one.

Charge Two: Batista murdered people.

No, not really. Batista himself disliked the death penalty which is why he spared Castro, and those like him, the first time for trying to overthrow his government – a death penalty offense even in the United States.

Further, the court’s system in Cuba worked quite well under Batista and yes, on rare occasions, people were executed in Cuba while Batista was President. However, these were for horrific criminal acts and ordered by a courts of law and not by Batista himself- no mass murder (such as was ordered by Castro) to be found here. What can I say? The point goes to Batista – an easy call.

Charge Three: Evil Batista allowed the establishment of large casinos, hotels, night clubs which a) brought in organized crime; b) encouraged prostitution, and c) exploited the workers.

Really? Those casinos, hotels and clubs filled the tax coffers of the Cuba government and helped provide a largely unskilled Cuban workforce with tens of thousands of jobs. The casinos never measured up to Las Vegas but, they were great and, when combined with the pristine beaches and natural beauty of Cuba, they drew millions of tourists who injected nearly a billion dollars into the Cuban economy – a lot of money in the 1950s.

Organized crime you say? Wow, I’m glad there’s none of that in America. If so, what harm did they do? Prostitution you say? Since the dawn of man, there have been prostitutes. There were and are plenty of prostitutes under the Castro dictatorship – still today. For many women, the meager food rations and allowances afforded them, under Castro’s failed Marxist policies, forced them to prostitution. Yes, kinda like what’s happening today in another failed Marxist country, Venezuela.

Finally the accusations that these casinos exploited workers – really? For many casino workers these jobs were the first substantial incomes they ever earned.

Charge Four: Batista allowed Bell Telephone to come into Cuba and set up a monopoly.

Yes, he most certainly did. Bell Telephone was already a monopoly in the United States and the Cuban telephone system was broken-down and unreliable. Batista wanted to modernize and expand the national telephone network that would allow the county to enjoy a single interconnected telecommunications network like the United States. Yes, Bell Telephone did give Batista a gold plated telephone for his office – oooohhhhhhh! For shame! Of course had there been another private telecommunications company capable of doing this, he might considered them but, alas, there were no others.

Charge Five: Batista had people tortured.

Yes, although not quite on the scale of the United States and it’s allies in the Global War on Terror. Certainly nowhere near the size of scope of the the wholesale torture practiced by Castro.

As the revolution progressed, Castro and his Communist friends began murdering private citizens, engaging in theft on a mass scale and engaging in terroristic acts against private and governmental properties and offices. Some relatively limited torture techniques were successfully used to gain useful information in the Cuban government’s defense against the Communist terrorists. Boo Hoo! The poor little terrorist babies!

What these Cuban officials did, at the time, is a relative drop in the bucket to the wide spread murder and heinous campaigns of torture visited upon Castro’s enemies – real or imagined. Since Castro’s gaining power, torture has been and remains widespread in Cuba. In Havana today, there is a giant steel rendering of Che Guevara’s face. It is affixed to the secret police building where anyone who is even suspected of disagreeing with the Castros may be sent to be tortured or, excuse me, “questioned,” by the secret police. In fact, even daring to attempt escape that little hell hole island, by boat or homemade raft, is enough to get one jailed and tortured – oh, excuse me, I mean “taken into custody and questioned.” If Cuba is such a worker’s paradise, why do on average, Cuban-American exhales, living in the United States, earn 29 times as much as the average Cuban who lives in Cuba? Hmm.

Final Thoughts

After the Castro Brothers overthrew the Cuban Government and executed and or tortured tens of thousands of people, the formerly productive corporate and large, large privately owned farms were seized, broken up, and given to the peasants. Yet, they never produced the same amount of food again and Cuba went from being a net exporter of agricultural products to relying heavily on subsidies from the Soviet Union. The factories stop producing and the Cuban GDP went into a free fall. The casinos were emptied out and many thousands thousands lost their jobs or owned tourist dependent businesses that failed. There was mass unemployment and while everyone received a roof over their head and ration cards, the cities were transformed, almost overnight it seemed, into giant slums.

The entire infrastructure began to collapse as there were no longer enough skilled technicians to keep it going. The beautiful modern phone network set up by Ma Bell was mostly dismantled. Fidel didn’t like the idea of widespread phone availability as the phone lines could been used to coordinate resistance to the Castro dictatorship just as the communist rebels had used them against Batista.

Liberals like to blame Communist Cuba’s economic downfall on the United States Embargo. How convenient? The problem was and is that liberals are unwilling to accept the fact that the Cuban system failed not because of the US but because, in the most simplistic of terms, Communism just doesn’t work. It never ever has and never will.

Perhaps liberals have never been able to except the failures of Communism because well, Communism is just a little too close to their own flawed ideology.. Don’t believe me? Go ahead and ask a liberal to explain why Communist country “X” (take you pick) failed? Then, watch them with true knee jerk speed say, “Well, County “X” was never really a true representation of proper socialism.” Go ahead and try it out on a liberal. It works every time.

Paul Harvey: Patriot, Anti-Communist and Recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom

Paul Harvey is Awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005.

Is wasn’t that long ago when Paul Harvey was a household name in America. Beloved by Democrats and Republicans alike,, he was heard daily on our televisions and radios with his trademark staccato delivery of the day’s news mixed with a little of his commentary. His news and commentary segments were short, to the point and mixed, seamlessly, with commercial endorsements which he read personally. His shows would later incorporate stories of popular historical figures and the obstacles they successfully overcame in their lives.

So popular were Harvey’s commentary’s that the radio division of ABC offered him a $100 Million contract in 2005 to continue broadcasting his daily segments of news and commentary. He was already over 80 years of age at the time.

People would time there breaks at work in order that they could tune in to his five minute afternoon commentaries. These millions of daily listeners were just as likely to include middle-aged Afro-American women as they were white, male construction workers. Americans loved Paul Harvey’s inspirational stories and takes on the news and history. Yet, one small demographic despised Paul Harvey: Those small numbers of people who comprise the radical, atheistic left.

Paul Harvey was always quick to expose those perennial malcontents of the professional left for their frequent efforts to subvert our culture and way of life. Paul knew that to succeed, the left must, by necessity, seek to disguise their true motives and intentions. Paul loved to expose them – to shine the light of truth on their Un-American activities. Paul was a close friend of longtime FBI Director, J. Edgar Hoover and worked regularly with him to root out Communist front groups and subversion lurking in academia, Hollywood, television and publishing. In this regard, he became the eyes and ears for loyal, patriotic Americans of all races and religions.

Today, Paul Harvey is still known as a prophet of sorts. In 1965 Paul, a devout Christian, began to toy with the idea of if I were the devil, what strategy and actions would I take, as Satan, to subvert and destroy the most godly nation on earth?

The result is a truly prophetic broadcast delivered that year titled, “If I Were the Devil.” A complete transcript of this broadcast can be found below. When you read it, please keep in mind it was delivered over 50 years ago then think of how much of the “Devil’s” agenda has already been fulfilled.

PAUL HARVEY’S ‘IF I WERE THE DEVIL’ TRANSCRIPT

If I were the devil … If I were the Prince of Darkness, I’d want to engulf the whole world in darkness. And I’d have a third of it’s real estate, and four-fifths of its population, but I wouldn’t be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree — Thee.

So I’d set about however necessary to take over the United States. I’d subvert the churches first — I’d begin with a campaign of whispers. With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: ‘Do as you please.’

“To the young, I would whisper that ‘The Bible is a myth.’ I would convince them that man created God instead of the other way around. I would confide that what’s bad is good, and what’s good is ‘square.’ And the old, I would teach to pray, after me, ‘Our Father, which art in Washington…’

“And then I’d get organized. I’d educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting, so that anything else would appear dull and uninteresting. I’d threaten TV with dirtier movies and vice versa. I’d pedal narcotics to whom I could. I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction. I’d tranquilize the rest with pills.

“If I were the devil I’d soon have families that war with themselves, churches at war with themselves, and nations at war with themselves; until each in its turn was consumed. And with promises of higher ratings I’d have mesmerizing media fanning the flames. If I were the devil I would encourage schools to refine young intellects, but neglect to discipline emotions — just let those run wild, until before you knew it, you’d have to have drug sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every schoolhouse door.

“Within a decade I’d have prisons overflowing, I’d have judges promoting pornography — soon I could evict God from the courthouse, then from the schoolhouse, and then from the houses of Congress. And in His own churches I would substitute psychology for religion, and deify science. I would lure priests and pastors into misusing boys and girls, and church money. If I were the devil I’d make the symbols of Easter an egg and the symbol of Christmas a bottle.

“If I were the devil I’d take from those, and who have, and give to those wanted until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious. And what do you bet? I could get whole states to promote gambling as thee way to get rich? I would caution against extremes and hard work, in Patriotism, in moral conduct. I would convince the young that marriage is old-fashioned, that swinging is more fun, that what you see on the TV is the way to be. And thus I could undress you in public, and I could lure you into bed with diseases for which there is no cure. In other words, if I were the devil I’d just keep right on doing on what he’s doing. Paul Harvey, good day.”

Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals

Yes, there once was a time when Hollywood actually supported American values

FrankSinatraAX5211JBBarbaraCKCW6CRYJimmyStewartPEVSCL3EWilliamHoldenAOLJ2JCYJohn_WayneWaltDisney9493JPYT

With the abrupt collapse of global Communism in the late 1980s, much has been gleaned from the billions of pages which comprise the former Soviet Union’s most secret of state secrets.  Chief among these included the planned infiltration of Hollywood by Soviet Agents, American Communists and their reliably  “useful idiots” of America’s liberal artistic intelligentsia.

They were quite successful at it during the 1940s and 50’s. Enough so to prompt a scathing, sworn testimony and warning from Hollywood’s king of the era, Jack Warner.  Mr. Warner admitted that people:

“with un-American leanings have infiltrated the film industry. They tried to insert into scripts certain things which, in my opinion, are Un-American.”

These dark years prompted the formation, by the vast majority of Hollywood’s elite who were then loyal, patriotic citizens, to form the Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals (MPAPAI, also MPA). The “Alliance” was comprised of a whose who of Hollywood elite which included the likes of Jack Warner, Walt Disney, Cecil B. DeMille, John Ford, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Jack Benny, Errol Flynn, John Wayne, Milton Berle, Jane Russell, Ginger Rogers, Joan Crawford, Clark Gable, Barbara Stanwyck and so many, many more – too many to mention here.

These legends of the screen and studios formed the Alliance for one reason: To combat the growing Communist/Progressive threat to subvert American culture and society through the clandestine infiltration of the motion picture industry.  Most members were instrumental in, themselves, infiltrating leftist cells and reporting the names of the insidious perpetrators to the studio management and to the U.S. House Committee on Un-American Affairs.

Of course the Leftist/Progressive/Communists screamed foul and that it was a “witch hunt” against otherwise loyal Americans. Unfortunately for them, the evidence proved overwhelmingly that they were up to no good. For decades following these events, misinformed liberals tried desperately to rehabilitate these Communist infiltrators – acting as the Marxist Left’s dependable puppets to the end.  However, these cries of foul were soon silenced after the former Soviet KGB achieves became public after the collapse of the USSR. Then, it was all spelled out, with incontrovertible evidence, that the plan existed all along. Names were named and perhaps not so surprisingly, they matched, with uncanny precision, the very names of the Communist/Leftist/Progressive anti-American subversives that the Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals had named to the House Committee on Un-American Affairs.

Below is the Alliance’s “Statement of Purpose” and the contents of a flyer they produced. Yes, you heroes of the silver screen turned out to be heroes  in real life!

STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES

We believe in, and like, the American way of life: the liberty and freedom which generations before us have fought to create and preserve; the freedom to speak, to think, to live, to worship, to work, and to govern ourselves as individuals, as free men; the right to succeed or fail as free men, according to the measure of our ability and our strength.

Believing in these things, we find ourselves in sharp revolt against a rising tide of communism, fascism, and kindred beliefs, that seek by subversive means to undermine and change this way of life; groups that have forfeited their right to exist in this country of ours, because they seek to achieve their change by means other than the vested procedure of the ballot and to deny the right of the majority opinion of the people to rule.

In our special field of motion pictures, we resent the growing impression that this industry is made of, and dominated by, Communists, radicals, and crackpots. We believe that we represent the vast majority of the people who serve this great medium of expression. But unfortunately it has been an unorganized majority. This has been almost inevitable. The very love of freedom, of the rights of the individual, make this great majority reluctant to organize. But now we must, or we shall meanly lose “the last, best hope on earth.”

As Americans, we have no new plan to offer. We want no new plan, we want only to defend against its enemies that which is our priceless heritage; that freedom which has given man, in this country, the fullest life and the richest expression the world has ever known; that system which, in the present emergency, has fathered an effort that, more than any other single factor, will make possible the winning of this war.

As members of the motion-picture industry, we must face and accept an especial responsibility. Motion pictures are inescapably one of the world’s greatest forces for influencing public thought and opinion, both at home and abroad. In this fact lies solemn obligation. We refuse to permit the effort of Communist, Fascist, and other totalitarian-minded groups to pervert this powerful medium into an instrument for the dissemination of un-American ideas and beliefs. We pledge ourselves to fight, with every means at our organized command, any effort of any group or individual, to divert the loyalty of the screen from the free America that give it birth. And to dedicate our work, in the fullest possible measure, to the presentation of the American scene, its standards and its freedoms, its beliefs and its ideals, as we know them and believe in them.

The group produced a pamphlet in 1948. The contents of that pamphlet are as follows:

The purpose of the Communists in Hollywood is not the production of political movies openly advocating Communism. Their purpose is to corrupt our moral premises by corrupting non-political movies — by introducing small, casual bits of propaganda into innocent stories — thus making people absorb the basic principles of Collectivism by indirection and implication.

The principle of free speech requires that we do not use police force to forbid the Communists the expression of their ideas — which means that we do not pass laws forbidding them to speak. But the principle of free speech does not require that we furnish the Communists with the means to preach their ideas, and does not imply that we owe them jobs and support to advocate our own destruction at our own expense.

Curtis Bowers: Filmmaker, former Elected Official and One Who Dared to Speak Out Against Communism

Many today know Curtis Bowers as a successful filmmaker. His two extraordinary documentary films are:

1) Agenda: Grinding America Down (2010) and it’s sequel,

2) Agenda 2 Masters of Deceit (2014)

I would strongly recommend these films to any patriotic citizen who is concerned about the future of our country. Yet, before he made these films, Curtis Bowers was a member of the Idaho Legislature in 2008 when he penned the Op-Ed which is reprinted below.

As has been documented on this site, those prominent citizens, throughout our nation’s history, who have challenged Communism, have often been subjected to the most vicious of campaigns against their honor. Many have been destroyed. Not Curtis Bowers. After he penned his Op-Ed in 2008, the ensuing campaign of hate, promulgated by the usual suspects who came crawling out of the woodwork, only confirmed to him that he had hit a nerve and was on the right track. Far from feeling the need to retreat from the extreme left and their useful idiots in the media, Bowers went on to produce, write and direct two award winning films further exposing the left’s true agenda.

The 2008 Op-Ed, which started it all, is reprinted below:

The start of a new year is always a time of reflection as we learn from the past and prepare for the future. An unusual opportunity I had years ago is especially significant today, in light of the many issues facing Americans.

In 1992 I read that the Communist Party USA was gathering at the University of California, Berkeley. I was curious to see what they had to say about the Berlin Wall coming down and the collapse of the Soviet Union. Would they give up, or did they have a different approach? I decided to go and find out.

I assumed it would be a bunch of radical college students, so to fit the part, I grew a goatee, got a revolutionary T-shirt and put on some ratty jeans. After getting checked into my dorm room on campus, I went over to the conference hall for the first meeting. I was amazed to see a room filled with 50-, 60- and 70-year-old men and women, professionally dressed with their briefcases.

For the next several days I listened, took notes and talked to the leadership. The plan they unfolded had nothing to do with guns, bombs or violence. They acknowledged their disappointment with what had happened in the Soviet Union but felt they could still “take America down.” This time, instead of using force from the outside, they would use public policy from the inside.

They had a three part agenda. They would use their manpower, influence and funds to back anything that would destroy our families, businesses and culture.

Firstly, to destroy the family, they would promote co-habitation instead of marriage. They would also try to get children away from their mothers into government programs at the earliest age possible. They felt the best way to do this was to promote the feminist movement, which had been very effective at making women discontent with marriage and motherhood.

Secondly, to destroy businesses, they aimed to wipe out the profit potential that motivated people to start them. If people couldn’t make good money off their ideas and hard work, they would eventually be content working for someone else. They were sure the environmental movement (modest at the time) was the only vehicle capable of creating enough regulation and expense to discourage business growth.

Finally, to destroy our culture, they needed us to abandon our heritage of religion and morality. They believed the homosexual movement, if accepted, would begin to effectively extinguish these values.

At the time they laid out this strategy, I wasn’t overly impressed. It seemed very unrealistic and certainly not something to worry about in my lifetime. Yet as I sit in my office, recall their plan and consider where America is today, I am shocked.

Our first woman presidential candidate talks about how degrading it is to be a stay-at-home mom. Businesses are closing down or moving daily to other countries because environmental regulations are too excessive to make a profit. And legislation is being considered in Washington, D.C. that makes it a crime to discuss in public any opposition to the homosexual lifestyle. As the old advertisement said, “You’ve come a long way, baby!”

When we see many mainstream politicians and activist judges with the same agenda that just 16 years ago was that of Communist strategists, it is time for patriotic Americans to wake up and get involved.

Congressman Francis E. Walter: He Served during a Time when many Democrats also Stood Against Communism

Congressman Walter: The Lion of the US House

Francis Walter was a humble man, born in 1894, from the stock of Main Street America – the Lehigh Valley area of eastern Pennsylvania. Known, in his youth, as a natural leader with a keen mind and a disarming wit, young Francis Walter went on, in his early adult years to achieve financial success in the steel and banking industries.  Yet in 1917, while many similarly successful young men (such as Joseph Kennedy Sr.) were looking for ways to avoid service during WWI, Walter joined the US navy without hesitation. He would later earn an officer’s commission and during WWII, aged well into his 40s, Walter would again step forward to serve his nation.

While in his 30s, he was urged by leaders throughout his community to run for an open seat in the United States House of Representatives. He would go on to represent the Lehigh Valley area in congress for thirty years. Congressman Walter was a member of the Democratic Party and a loyal supporter of President Franklin Roosevelt and the idea that the government had a responsibility to help the “little guy” who was willing to work hard to better himself. He was a strong proponent of the New Deal policies of FDR.

As a member of congress and later, Chairman of the House committee on Un-American Affairs, he would develop a growing concern over the efforts of foreign governmental backed subversive activity in the United States. In the years leading up the Second World War, Congressman Walter, stood firm in fighting the influence and espionage of the Axis alliance of Fascist nations including Imperial Japan and the Nazi government of German leader Adolph Hitler.  After WWII, Congressman Walter became alarmed by a new threat to American security.

Soviet sponsored and funded Communism had tried, unsuccessfully so, for decades to gain influence and a voice in US policy and governmental circles. However, in the 1940s, these Marxist agents had seen considerable growth and success toward achieving their initial aims. This was due, in large part, to the uneasy and loose alliance with the Soviet Union during WWII. This short-lived and dangerous partnership helped US Communists to give their poisonous and untenable ideology, validation in limited circles of American society. Further, as the Communists sanitized their message to sound similar to New Deal policies during the Great Depression, some well meaning yet, gullible, souls where tricked in to buying into the this secret, cult like movement. Communists first started to gain a foothold in academia, radio, organized labor and motion pictures as well as in our own government. Taking their marching orders from the Kremlin, this secret, undercover Communist movement was beginning to spread to influential corners in American society.

Congressman Walter and many others, Democrat and Republican alike, began to be concerned by the fast spreading wave of Communism infiltration in American cultural and governmental circles. It would not be long before the fight against Communist sponsored espionage became a priority of the US Government.  Leading that important and ultimately victorious, fight was Congressman Francis Walter – the humble son of the Lehigh Valley. Working hand-in-hand with the various US intelligence and law enforcement agencies, Congressman Walter, the fighting New Deal Democrat, was able to slowly undercover the Communist plan to subvert American society and it’s security apparatus. What disturbed him most was how Communist were camouflaging themselves as liberal and praying on the gullible. They recruited many of their hapless followers by plying them with emotional liberal arguments as opposed to logic. It was no surprise when, decades later after the collapse of the Soviet Union, it turned out that many of the so called “liberals” were in fact working for the enemies of America.

Through the thousands of hours of work in coordination with his committee and virtually every security organ of the US Government, Congressman Walter read into the record a detailed list of Communist objectives, based on their own communiques, words and policies, concerning their planned destruction of the United states. These became known officially as the “Communist Goals”  list and they were read into The Congressional Record on January 10, 1963 and while supported by overwhelmingly by the American people in a January 23, 1963 Gallup Poll, the goals were also supported by the vast majority of members or congress and lauded by President John F. Kennedy, Vice-president Lyndon B. Johnson, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy as well as the Joint Chiefs of staff.

Less than three decades later, the ‘Communist Goals” would be verified by the opening of the  Security Achieves of the former Soviet Union.

The goals, as published, were as follows:

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N.  as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.)

12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.

14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.”

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.”

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the “big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture–education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat].

39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. (“It Takes A village” authors note) Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use [“]united force[“] to solve economic, political or social problems.

43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court

Thanks to patriots like Democratic Congressman Walter, Communism was eventually destroyed as a global theat. A future President would read Congressman Walter’s list in January of 1963. He was shocked by it and some eighteen years later, the day he took the oath of office as our 40th President of the United States, he would, later that day, meet with his military chiefs of staff and tell them, “I’m sick and tired of trying to contain Communism and our new policy will be to destroy it as a viable threat.’ This president would later develop a plan that would drag the Soviet Union and it’s puppets into a ramped up cold war, which would ultimately bankrupt them and cause their people, at long last, to rise up in a successful revolt. That Communist slaying President was the great Ronald Reagan.

Despite our victory over communism abroad, one can tell, from fifty-five year-old list above, that there is still work to be done. Interestingly enough, another future US President would also read Congressman Walter’s list as a child. His father, a rags to riches real estate developer who posted the goals on the kitchen wall of his family home. As the young boy grew, he never forgot the “Communist Goals” list or its implications. That boy would one day himself become President and his name is Donald Trump. He will make sure that those lingering issues from the get stomped out.

It has been almost thirty-six years since Communist Salvadorian Bishop Oscar Romero was gunned down, in public, surrounded, as usual, by a crowd of of his devotees. After all, Salvadorian Catholics didn’t go to the Leftist Bishop’s public speeches to receive the Sacraments of the Church, as much as they came to hear him spout the usual Communist lies:
1) The United States is evil;

2) My government that allows private property and capitalism is evil too;

3) The Communist Terrorists who are committing wanton murder, robbery and theft in hopes of creating a Communist dictatorship are really good and the government soldiers who are trying to stop them are evil.

4) Please all you fit, young men, join the terrorists so we can, together, create a communist dictatorship like the ones in Cuba and Nicaragua.

5) Oh yes, God himself really approves of Atheistic Totalitarian Marxism.

That he was able to sell the last part to so many of the Catholic peasantry was a testament to his own persuasiveness as many did, at his urging, join the notoriously murderous FMLN – few survived the experience.  It was a brutal civil war that that cost the lives of over 30,000 citizens of El Salvador – over 7000 of these were government troops.

Yet, as to Romero the Red, some questions still linger. Chiefly, how is it that the gunman was never caught? When Romero was shot, there were over one-hundred people in the church attending mass (if that’s what you want to call it) – some armed. A common occurrence, when a great leader is assassinated – whether he be the Kennedy brothers, Malcom X or MLK, is that those around the slain leader rush, even when unarmed, toward the assassin or at least in the direction of the gun fire. That’s why almost all such assassins are caught and wrestled down, if not beaten by the angry mob. Here, if the theory is to be believed, the “conscience” of this tiny, war-torn nation was cut down by a single gunman, who was relatively close to his target and he just happened to get away clean? The little VW that the alleged gunman fired from, located at the front of the church, drove slowly away and nobody caught it up to it? For more and more, with the issue being revisited through the international media, stemming largely from the late Bishop achieving Sainthood, we are reminded that the official story just doesn’t pass the smell test.

In fact, there have never been any conclusive findings raised by the various politically motivated panels and commissions which have “investigated” Romero’s murder – other than, of course, that the whole thing had to have been done by the so called “right wing death squads” which were, in actuality, usually nothing more than aggrieved relatives and former comrades (vigilantes) of those murdered by the FMLN who went out and sought vigilante justice for their murdered loved ones.

In fact, these “findings,” when in fact made, have been sketchy at best and have usually consisted of theories as opposed to hard evidentiary conclusions of fact. These superficial theories, masquerading as evidence, have usually been good enough for the left leaning international media and their fellow travelers yet others, the have merely provoked more questions.

In response to these questions, the latest, in this long line of unsubstantiated theories, has now been made in response to the years of dogged questions concerning why the gunman has never been identified. This has always been an untidy loose end for the “Right Wingers did it” crowd. Finally, in a half-baked, desperate let’s-throw-it-up-and-see-if-it-sticks spastic fit of creativity, the FMLN and their Communist allies have announced, at long last, the identity of the shooter to put and end to this ever-widening evidentiary hole. That’s right folks! It’s all neatly wrapped up. The show’s over so now let’s everybody go back home. There’s nothing more to see here!

The name of this hapless soul, whom the FMLN would have us believe murdered Oscar the Red is, undoubtedly to the shock of his family, one Marino Samayoa Acosta. How do they know? Apparently some people who have, for years, steadfastly maintained a lack of any knowledge concerning the affair have allegedly come forward – some thirty years later. Yes, this and of course, the old, “someone said, who had talked to someone, who knew someone, told me.” The poor fall guy, Mr. Acosta, is of course, conveniently dead and unable to defend himself from the defamation of his otherwise honorable name. He had been a Sergeant in the Salvadorian Army were he was known as a mediocre marksman and an superb drinker of alcoholic beverages which had the effect of always making him appear ten years or more older than his actual age for most of his adult life. He was a man of whom little was expected and hence, upon whom very little responsibility or trust was ever bestowed. Since his name was first floated in 2011, to some chuckles, even more inconvenient truths have emerged for the “Right Wingers did it” group. Chiefly, his rather bloated and stocky built soldier did not fit the description of the actual gunman and further, Mr. Acosta appeared to have a credible alibi for his whereabouts when Comrade Oscar was blown away. Still, don’t expect a correction from the purveyors of the “Acosta, who was a Right Winger, did it,” theory anytime soon. This is their story, after all, and they are sticking to it.

Within twenty-four hours of Uncle Oscar’s murder the complete Right Winger’s did it story was disseminated and ran with, no questions asked, by the progressive international media. Most news stories reporting on the incident mention the words “right wing” and “death squads” more than the late Romero’s name. There was never any real effort made to get to the truth of the matter and, as expected, the FMLN were the beneficiaries of a world-wide outpouring of sympathy while their enemies, the government and military would forever be tied to the assassination despite the lack of any hard evidence. And, to those who have been interested in the truth, this fact is exhibit “A” in the case of why the government, Army and Right Wing had, in fact, nothing to do whatsoever, with the Marxist Romero’s death. Even had they secretly desired to see Romero dead -even this is debatable – they were smart enough to know that the entire brunt of the blame would fall upon them causing potentially irreparable harm to their cause – far outweighing any conceivable benefit. In fact, throughout all of El Salvador in March of 1980, there were no entities which had a greater motive in seeing Romero alive and well than the Salvadorian government, the security forces and the Right Wing.

However, during this time frame, the FMLN had plenty to be fearful of. First, the government was turning the tide of the war on the battlefield. The FMLN had suffered some serious setbacks. Second, their quasi and most certainly unintentional benefactor, US President Jimmy Carter, who was, at best lukewarm in helping the Salvadorian government fight the FMLN, was in huge trouble and his reelection prospects were in serious doubt. Once more, the man who seemed most likely to replace Carter, California Governor Ronald Reagan, had made it publicly known that he intended to fight the spread of Communism in “America’s Back Yard” and had sent word to the Salvadorian government that “help was on the way.”

The murder of such “an internationally beloved figure” as Romero was made out to be by a fawning international press, would obviously be blamed on the Salvadorian government et. al. and would have renewed and reinvigorated the debate on whether or not the US should be giving any aid to El Salvador – such a debate did, in fact, occur. So, Romero gets martyred. The Salvadorian Government, Army and political conservatives take the blame and the flow of US aid, weapons and supplies becomes suddenly in doubt – unlike the steady flow of same to the FMLN Communist Guerillas from their friends in Cuba and the Soviet Union. But, there’s even more.

Yes, Romero had been a big help to the FMLN and in fact, many had described the lefty Bishop as the Communist terrorist’s “respectable face.” However, in doing so, he had become far bigger and far more popular than even they. Romero had become the “face of the struggle” in El Salvador and even if the FMLN were to be successful in overthrowing the government, they would still have to contend with Romero who would likely be a Nelson Mandela like figure and thus a threat to their monopoly on power. By taking out Romero they would make a martyr of him thus causing him, or at least his name, to be still useful to them while not having to have to worry about competing with him. Further, knowing that their opponents would be blamed, they could win a huge boost in support both at home and abroad – possibly tipping the fortunes of war toward them should the US wash their hands of the Salvadorian government over the incident. The later would undoubtedly have happened had President Carter been reelected.

These represent some very compelling motives supporting the theory of the FMLN murdering Romero and in fact, were the likely underlying rational for the FMLN to murder Romero as they almost certainly did do. Sounds crazy you say? Too much like a movie? Well, it is precisely the sort of thing that happens all of the time – especially in the world of the Progressive-Socialist-Marxist Left.

The proper term for such an action, where one side stages an ugly attack, for their own benefit, which is made to look like the work of their enemy, is known as a “False Flag Operation.” There is nothing new about these types of operations and they have been used throughout history including by the US CIA. They were also used and taught, with great effect, by the KGB of the former Soviet Union.

At the Patrice Lumumba University In Moscow, there were no fraternities and sororities. You would have found no students playing beer pong or adorning themselves with a Roman style toga made from a bed sheet. During the days of the Communist Soviet Union, this school played an integral role in the USSR’s world-wide campaign of espionage as well as Communist revolution and subversion. The school’s alumni directory reads like a who’s who in the history of terrorism. At Lumumba, promising communist revolutionaries from all over the world studied the tools of their trade – bomb making, poisons, murder, terrorism, Psyops, and how to effectively conduct “False Flag Operations!” Oh, guess what? Most of the important FMLN leaders trained at the Patrice Lumumba University!

Were all of these factors not enough, one must consider the sloppily and implausible way this likely False Flag assassination was staged. Romero has been portrayed as a fearless man of God who walked freely and without care among his peaceful people – like Christ himself. This was neither true nor would it have been a sane thing for Bishop Romero to do. By March of 1980, Bishop Romero was getting regular death threats. The vocation’s staff at the rectories where he slept were insufficient to ensure his safety. The Salvadorian government actually offered a security detail from their Treasury Police as they, more than anyone, had the biggest stake in ensuring that no harm came to Comrade Oscar. However, the good Bishop Romero refused the back channel offer of protection from the government and, instead, naively placed himself and his life in the hands of his FMLN brethren. This would prove to be a fatal mistake. Yes, when the Bishop went out and about during his last months, he had protection and there was always some, if only a few, armed people – FMLN – near him.

On the evening of March 24, 1980, Romero led the Celebration of Mass in a chapel which was part of the hospital La Divina Providencia. The perilous location of the chapel’s main entrance, was directly directly abutting the edge of a road. Not only did his security seem unconcerned with this, they didn’t bother to temporarily block off the road or engage in any form of traffic control or screening. Instead, for some very odd reason, his security actually opened the chapels front two doors as Bishop Romero began the Celebration of Mass. Even more outrageous, not one of the armed FMLN “security” members bothered to secure the front door or even stand outside of it. With the road unchecked and nobody out front, this meant that any would be assassin could simply walk or drive up to the front entrance of the chapel and take out the Bishop. That, unfortunately, is exactly what happened.

As Romero was finishing up his homily, filled with the customary Marxist “social justice” rhetoric, a red Volkswagen slowly pulled up and came to a gentle stop squarely in front of the chapel doors. The hundred or so church congregants, with their backs to the door, suspected nothing. Romero’s FMLN security handlers, obviously having to have noticed the car slowly pull up and come to a stop, did nothing – acting wholly unfazed by this monumental breach of the most elementary security protocols.

Then, a tall, lanky, bushy-haired occupant of the car, who looked nothing like Marino Samayoa Acosta, slowly stands up. Even more bizarre, without the least hint of nerves or exigency, he slowly and methodically raised a lower caliber rifle to his eye – taking aim at the Bishop who was just finishing his homily. By this time, the rifleman/assassin, who would have been impossible to miss by Romero’s FMLN guard had they tried to stop him,  had a rifle pointed at the clergyman and nobody who was supposed to be protecting him attempted to shield Romero or push him out of the gunman’s line of site or for that matter, yell out a warning. In the next instant, as Romero finishes his homily, the assassin calmly squeezes off a round from his rifle a sending Oscar spiraling downward in a bloody, twisting, whirl toward the hereafter. The congregants scream out in horror. Some of the unarmed peasant men instinctively and bravely spring toward to open chapel doors in the direction of the gunman. It is at this point the “security” people yell at everyone to get down. There was never any return fire from the FMLN at this point. The gunman sits back down as casually as he first stood up. Some say they see a smile on his face. All seem in agreement in describing how the red Volkswagen, not seeming to be an in particular hurry, slowly pulled away and drove off. There were no squealing tires or sounds of a racing or quickly accelerating engine, just a car, carefully pulling away like a teenager on his driver’s licensing exam.

The major intelligence gathering bodies of the Western World and Israel weren’t fooled for a minute. They saw the whole matter for what it undoubtedly was – a well executed False Flag Operation. The real question is: how could this have fooled anyone? The answer is simple. The left leaning western media wasn’t interested in investigating the matter because it fit perfectly with the narrative they had been aggressively pushing for sometime: El Salvador government and conservatives are evil; Marxists FMLN are the good guys. It also helped that the FMLN and there sympathizers took immediate control of the crime scene and the body.

“The Farm” as it is affectionately called or, officially, the Camp Peary Special Training Center, located just outside of Williamsburg, VA is the training academy for CIA field agents – past, present and future. It is at “The Farm” were they say, when False Flag Operations are taught, the primary case study used to illustrate how they are best done, is the assassination of Bishop Oscar Romero. Perhaps Romero’s murder is similarly used today as a teaching example at the People’s Friendship University of Russia – formerly known as the Patrice Lumumba University.

President Jorge Rafael Videla: He Saved His Country from a Brutally Attempted Communist Takeover.

President Jorge Rafael Videla: He Saved His Country from a Brutally Attempted Communist Takeover.

A couple of years ago, on May 17, 2013, an 87-year-old man was found dead in his bed. While he appeared to have passed in his sleep of natural causes, an autopsy later revealed that he died as the result of untreated fractures to his skull and internal hemorrhaging caused by his slipping in the shower fives days earlier. Had he been taken to a hospital or even properly treated, he likely would have survived his injuries. Yet, his keepers seemed indifferent with regard to seeing that the old man received proper medical attention.

All of this transpired at the Marcos Paz Prison in Argentina. The 87-year-old deceased man was a devout Catholic as well as a loving husband and father to his five children. He was also his nation’s former President, who was once beloved by his people and who waged a successful war against Leftist terrorists in Argentina during the 1970s. Had he lost that war, Argentine society might now resemble something akin to Venezuela, North Korea or the former Soviet Union.

His name was Jorge Rafael Videla, a fearless and once popular patriot who save Argentina from the brink of oblivion. His thanks for this Herculean achievement was to be imprisoned by the very progressive-socialist-Marxist terrorists he once successfully fought. Videla, like most who have stood up to the Progressive-Socialist-Marxist Left, had his character destroyed – in addition to being imprisoned and, ultimately, left to die. Yet, to understand this miscarriage of justice, one must know some of the relevant history.

In the mid-20th Century, economists generally concurred that Argentina had the potential to become a world economic power. Rich in resources with a rapidly advancing socioeconomic infrastructure, Argentina enjoyed a population whose culture favored a strong work ethic. Politically stable, Argentina also boasted a well developed agricultural industry. It’s capital city, Buenos Aires had all the trappings of a large, metropolitan city in Western Europe.

Yet, this national promise, like that of so many other nations, was destroyed by Progressive Marxism. One need only listen to the Communist polemics of the current Pope, himself from Argentina, to understand how Argentina was deprived of her destiny and turned into a listless, socialistic welfare state. While it avoided the totalitarian form of Communism that might have been forced upon it had the terrorists won their guerrilla war, nobody today anticipates Argentina becoming a world power and, despite massive wealth redistribution, it’s large population of poor people are now further worse off, economically, than ever before. Not that this will dissuade Argentina’s Progressive leaders from their current economic policies. In the end, the Left engages in wealth redistribution not to help the poor as much as to limit the challenge to their monopoly on power that the wealthy pose.

Jorge Rafael Videla came from a long line of public officials and elites. It was therefor surprising to those who knew him that, although unquestionably patriotic, he had no interest in politics, political parties or ever holding public office. He had different plans for his life. Videla’s dream of serving as an officer in the Argentine Army was fulfilled in 1944 when he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in that Army upon his graduation from the prestigious National Military College (Colegio Militar de la Nacion).

Concerning himself with mastering the technical and tactical skills needed to become a proficient Army leader, the young Lieutenant Videla also established himself as a talented athlete and devout practitioner of Catholicism who was known for his hard work and seemingly limitless potential. He excelled in all of his assignments as a Army Lieutenant and then, a few years later, as a Captain. He was soon identified as a young man who was destined to go places in the Argentine Army. Unlike many of his peers in the officer corps, Videla distanced himself from political matters and ideological discussions.

In the 1960s, still young but now, an Army Colonel, Jorge Rafael Videla, like most other Argentines, became concerned with the growing actsvof terrorism being committed by a well organized Progressive-Socialist-Marxist guerrilla front operating throughout Argentina. These terrorists were being well funded, equipped and supplied by the communist dictatorships in Cuba, The former Soviet Union and their Warsaw Pact allies. The terrorists were particularly brutal and had no qualms with shedding innocence the blood.

In the 1970s, this well funded terrorist insurgency would become so prevalent and prolific in committing mass murder and destruction, the entire Argentine society looked as if it would succumb to this bloody red tide and collapse as a free society. Later, the very Progressive-Socialist-Marxist front itself would be successful in relabeling this conflict as a “Dirty War” against them and a war of “government genocide,” but, in the end, the Argentines faced, in the 1970s, a terrorist campaign which, comparatively speaking, was just a bloody and just as perilous as the current war on terrorism involving the United States and Europe. The primary difference is that the Argentine War Against Terrorism took place primarily within it’s own borders and, as stated above, it was a war that they almost lost.

Perhaps a few things should be established up front. The guerrilla war in 1970s Argentina was a terrorist campaign by a Progressive-Socialist-Marxist movement which espoused unpopular, discredited ideas and were hence fighting to win on the battlefield that which they were, at the time, incapable of winning at the ballot box through open and fair democratic elections. The Argentine government and its society, on the other hand, were fighting for their very survival. So, yes, insurgents were tortured – just like the US and it allies have terrorist suspects tortured (now the US lets some of it’s Eastern European allies do the torturing). The reason western countries torture their terrorist enemies is because this torture reveals important information about other terrorists and their plans and hence, saves lives. Lots of lives! Nations and societies have a right to survive and defend themselves.

So, to be clear, usually, often the only way to successfully fight well organized terrorists and survive is to commit torture. People of the Left need to come to terms with this reality and deal with it. We are are not going to enter into a suicide pact with you just because you are mentally ill and believe than an entire society should be killed off before a single hair on a darling terrorist’s head is harmed.

Now, during the terrorist attacks in Argentina, the Argentines were only able to prevail and hence, survive as a society, by committing acts of torture. However, let’s be clear, only terrorists who were captured on the battlefield or who were exposed by other admitted terrorists were tortured. Let’s also be clear that contrary to the prevalent Progressive-Socialist-Marxist propaganda, the Argentine government did not go out and kidnap, arrest and torture college students, dissenters or other critics who were not terrorists. Therein is the truth regarding the big lie propagated about the so called “Dirty War.”

In the end, through the use of torture, the Argentines were able to prevail on the battlefield and win the military war against progressive-socialist-Marxist terrorism. However, the political war against the Liberal-Progressive-Socialist-Marxist coalition was lost over the ensuing three decades due to that coalition maintaining an iron clad grip on the culture through films, television and radio as well as the news and publishing industries in addition to the educational system. With complete control over the national system of academia and the flow of information, they have been able to rewrite history and shape the cultural norms and attitudes of the post war generations (sound familiar?). In the process of reshaping the Argentine society into a watered down, albeit democratic, version of what they were seeking during the Terrorist Wars, they took special care to seek revenge against those in the old Argentine government who defeated them on the battlefield three decades ago. First on their list to be paid back was the former Argentine President, Jorge Rafael Videla.

Most are familiar with Juan Peron, himself a former Army General, and still more know of his wife Evita. Juan Peron, and his wife, governed Argentina from 1946 until 1955 (Evita died in in 1952). As a First Lady, Evitia Peron was immensely popular with the peasant class and had an unprecedented role in making policy. The Perons were a strange political force from an ideological standpoint. While appearing, nationalistic and outwardly conservative (some labeled them as Fascists) the also supported social(ist) justice and wealth redistribution all while being aggressively anti-communist. A few years after his wife’s death, Peron was deposed in a military coup and forced into exile.

From 1953 to 1973 Peron lived in exile – mostly in Panama. Always the ladies man, Peron met a night club dancer some 35 years his junior by the name of Isabel Martínez. Isabel, while possessing stunning beauty, had come from a lower middle class family and dropped out of school in the 5th grade. This did not deter Juan Peron from taking this simple night club dancer as his wife making her Isabel Martínez de Perón. Unfortunately and unbeknownst to anyone at the time, this act would place Isabel on a collision course with the people of Argentina.

Peron, like many other great men throughout history, had an impressive second act. Peron’s encore came after a coup in Buenos Aires brought him out of exile and back as President of Argentina – he was sworn in in 1973 and, as with Evita, he made his 5th grade educated wife, Isabel, his Vice-Present. Early upon his return, he was happy to approve the recommendation of General Rafael Videla to the post of Army Chief of Staff. By this time, Peron, the old Army General was a competent war time leader at a point when the Progressive-Socialust-Marxist guerrilla terrorists were stepping up their nation-wide campaign of terror. As popular as ever, Peron was successful in containing the terrorist threat. Had his regime continued he might have made short shrift of the terrorist and things might have turned out much differently for Argentina. Unfortunately, on July 1, 1974, President Juan Peron died, after suffering a series of heart attacks days before, leaving, by law, his 5th grade educated wife
Isabel Martínez de Perón, the former nightclub dancer, to succeed him as President and she did just that.

Isabel was not remotely qualified to lead Argentina, much less during their war on terror. Lacking any meaningful knowledge of the governmental departments, economics or military operations, Isabel was forced to rely on the advice of underlings. Still, things might have fared much better for Argentina had she chosen the right underlings to seek advice from. She did not and the Argentine government and economy dove into a sudden and precipitously downward spiral. Inflation jumped to 35%, the economy was close to collapse and the now emboldened terrorist seemed on the verge of winning. Some among the upper classes began to flee the country. Argentina, as most everyone knew it then, seem to be on the verge of being no more. One particularly notorious terrorist group, The ERP, (People’s Revolutionary Army) had gained particular infamy by engaging in the widespread murder and kidnapping for ransom of prominent Argentine citizens as well as an attack in force on the Azulejo Army Barracks. With the shocking and swift collapse of Batista’s Cuba still in their memory, senior government officials and military leaders began discussing options to save Argentina from a similar fate.

Early in the morning hours of March 21, 1976, Alicia Videla awoke to find her husband, General Jorge Videla, pacing anxiously throughout their tastefully decorated home. Videla, now the commander of the entire Argentine Army, bore the signs of a man under considerable stress.

It was only after she attempted to consul her beloved husband that she understood the weight of the dilemma her husband faced. A
large group of his fellow military officers as well as many Argentine government and industrial elites had been made a decision to act. They were not going to see their beloved Argentina destroyed without a fight. All the plans were complete. For the very survival of Argentina and Argentine society, the ineptly perilous administration of Isabel Peron had to end – preferably without incident or harm to her or her supporters. With this proposition, General Videla very reluctantly agreed. After all, he had eschewed politics throughout his entire adult life. He believed strongly in the rule of law and the virtues of a democratic society. For the survival of his country, he could hold his nose and agree with Peron’s removal – that was not what was weighing on his conscious – causing him to frantically pace throughout his home, as his family slept, in the wee hours of that March morning.

That which had floored Videla was set in motion the previous day when the political and military leaders of the coup d’etat, that would take down the Isabel Peron’s disastrous reign, informed him that he, for the sake of his country and his people, must assume Presidency after Peron’s removal. He was “most qualified” they told him. His unequalled “military leadership was required” to turn the tide against the Progressive-Socialist-Communist terrorists they pleaded. They reminded him of his “popularity with the public” and that someone of his gravitas was needed for the new government to succeed.
Still sensing Videla’s reluctance to take on a political leadership role, they reassured him that the job would be “temporary” and that his would be a “caretaker’s government” and that he was leading a governmental “reorganization.” Their pleas and the pressure they exerted on Videla were compelling – for sure. Yet he resisted.

Telling them he needed more time to consider their proposition, Videla left the meeting uncommitted. General Videla found the whole matter to be well outside his comfort zone. He was, above all, a soldier and a man of honor. The thought of his taking on a political role, under such circumstances, much less the Presidency of Argentina, was personally distasteful to him.
Were this all General Jorge Rafael Videla had to consider his decision would have been so easy, so effortlessly to make and would have been a resounding no. Yet, there was more he to factor into his deliberations. So much more he couldn’t sleep.

The very fabric of Argentine society was unraveling under the emboldened Progressive-Socialist-Marxist terrorist front. There seemed to be no safe place. Half of all of the people they murdered were innocent bystanders caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Recently, the popular Buenos Aires Police Chief, Alberto Villar and his wife had been murdered in broad daylight by the leftists. Videla knew that his beloved Argentina was perilously close to collapse. He knew that no society could withstand the duel threats of a well armed and supplied fifth column of leftist terrorist coupled with the ravages visited upon the economy by the terrorists themselves to say nothing of the damage caused by Isabel Peron’s ill-advised fiscal polices.

Videla knew the survival of the nation required bold military leadership and a new tactical approach. Despite his trying to rationalize a justification for his refusing the Presidency, in the end, he knew he alone was the best qualified to save his country from the deadly terrorism practiced by the ad hoc progressive-socialist-Marxist front.
The next day, he made contact with the others and reluctantly accepted their offer of leadership under two important conditions. First, they should strive to ensure the coup would be a bloodless one. Second, his role as the new President would be a transitional one and he would represent a temporary caretaker government that would allow for elections after the leftist terrorist threat had been placed in check. His coconspirators agreed and the next day, as the dangerously incompetent Isabel Peron boarded an Air Force helicopter, her flight was diverted to a military base where she was temporarily detained.

When the new government, that replaced Isabel Peron, was announced, the people of Argentina breathed a long, collective sigh of relief. When it was announced that General Jorge Videla would be the interim, caretaker President, the people began to again express hope that disaster could be averted.
With the support of his people, General Videla, knew that the first priority would be to take the offensive against the coalition of progressive-socialist-Marxist terrorist. This was required to save the country. The economy would take longer to fix and, in the end, would require that the terrorists be defeated.

Right from the start, Videla recognized the overarching challenge in effectively fighting the leftist terrorist network in his country. Although they espoused ideology and leanings different than their conservative Catholic countrymen, they could effectively blend in with society. Like all terrorists, whether they be the very cowardly progressive-socialist-Marxist terrorists who threatened Argentina’s survival then or today’s Islamo-Fascist Jihadist, they wore no uniform and, after committing their cowardly acts of bloodshed, would slip back into their homes, schools or workplaces and pass themselves off a decent, lawful citizens.

As Argentina’s new President, Videla’s plan of attack against the leftist terrorist was enacted swiftly and boldly. Significant manpower was committed to securing Argentina’s borders to prevent the resupply and reinforcement of the terrorists with leftist volunteers from other countries within Latin America. This included a new treaty with Argentina’s neighbor Chile to jointly patrol their shared border to intradict the flow of terrorists moving between both countries. Deals were struck with other neighboring countries to share intelligence on terrorist networks and captured leftist terrorists working within their borders. This significantly reduced the ability of terrorists within the progressive-socialist-Marxist coalition to easily seek sanctuary or to base their operations or seek refuge in neighboring countries. Further, Videla’s plan also called for other partner countries within Latin America to screen criminals for terrorist involvement upon arrest. This program in particular provided the law enforcement and intelligence agencies of partner countries a treasure trove of information on terrorists operations and organization and caused the detainment of criminals, who might otherwise have been released, due to their terrorist ties. This program was most effective due to the high rate of non-terrorist related criminal contact and moral depravity within the progressive-leftist-Marxist terrorist front. Many of these leftists were active homosexuals or otherwise depraved sexual predators who engaged in rape and child molestation. Most had significant drug habits or addictions and would engage in theft and other crimes to sustain their habits (many progressive-socialist-Marxist can be thus described even today). The arrest of these people, initially, for non-terrorist offenses lead to the identification and removal of many progressive-socialist-Marxist terrorists. In fact, in Argentina as well as in Uruguay and Bolivia, nearly one third of all pederasts (child molesters) arrested turned out to have a direct connection to the progressive-socialist-Marxist terrorist front. In Chile, the number was close to one in two.

Yet, General Videla knew that this would not be enough to root out the leftist terrorist scum. He revamped Argentina’s capabilities in gathering both human and electronic intelligences. Soon, terrorist radio and telephone communications were being intercepted and, were applicable coded messages were being cracked. Agents became successful in infiltrating ostensibly non-terrorist organizations that were, in actuality, used as recruiting ground for the terrorists such as University student and faculty organizations, labor unions, nominally non-violent liberal groups and underground homosexual cells. These efforts began to break the back of the leftist terrorist groups which had grown large, unwieldy and overconfident.

Yet, the most effective method to quickly gain the information necessary to thwart planned terrorist attacks and save innocent lives was torture which was administered in a similar way as it is in the western world’s war against terrorism today. Interestingly enough, those progressive-socialist-Marxist terrorists who chose to candidly confess their complicity in terror and fully share the necessary information needed to stop the loss of innocent life were spared any type of torture.

In fact, the Argentine military, intelligence network as well as Videla himself were amazed at how quickly many of the leftist terrorist would turn (by talking) on their own comrades to avoid torture. Videla famously made note that many of the progressive-socialist-Marxist terrorists “lacked the courage of their convictions -” unlike today’s Islamic terrorists.

Few and far in between are those who were tortured who did not have ties to terrorist organizations. Yes, some rare mistakes were made and yes, some of the braver terrorists died under interrogation or, fearing their inability to hold up under torture, committed suicide. Yes, some were, in extreme circumstances executed for their terrorist acts and murder after receiving trial, with full due process of the law, by military tribunals.

Further, one can’t help but take notice of the facts that there are so many still alive today who were arrested and claimed to have been tortured. First, unless there was a rare case of mistaken identity, all of these people were working with or for the terrorists at some level and are today still all members of the far left wing. Second, and most important, they are alive today because, they were eventually released by the Videla government and not “disappeared” as today’s progressive-socialist-Marxists in Argentina would have us believe.

The myth of the “disappeared” in Argentina, both during the war against terror and today, should be addressed here and now. For decades, members of the progressive-socialist-Marxist front have used their control over the flow of information to perpetrate a myth that, under Videla, good law abiding Argentine citizens, who were merely minding their own business and had nothing to do with terrorism were all abducted, tortured, murdered and then had there bodies buried or otherwise hidden so as to never be found again.

First, as has been fairly well established in subsequent court proceedings against President Videla and others in his administration, the vast majority of the so called “disappeared” were progressive-socialist-Marxist terrorists who were lawfully killed in open combat with government troops or security forces. Even some of the more honest among the former terrorists in Argentina today readily admit this. The progressive-socialist-Marxist have been able to gain much traction out of the “disappeared” fabrication through the governments policy, at the time, of not returning the bodies of terrorists to their families after the were a) killed in battle b) executed after a confession to or guilty finding by a military tribunal or c) committed suicide while in custody. The governments policy of not returning the bodies of the progressive-socialist-Marxist terrorists was to avoid making martyrs out of them through the leftists practice of making a huge media production out of their funerals fully supported by their leftist accomplices in the Argentine and international media would propagate false claims that they were innocents who were “murdered merely for criticizing the government.” Finally, the practice of not returning the bodies of killed guerrilla or terrorist combatants was anything but new. Even in the then recently concluded conflict in Vietnam, the United States forces and those of their allies would routinely burry killed enemy NVA or Viet Cong in mass, unmarked graves. Seldom was any effort made to identify the dead. Perhaps, most of all, the Argentine government simply didn’t believe that terrorist traitors deserved a proper burial.

The Argentine government, by their own admission did go to lengths in order to destroy or otherwise conceal terrorist bodies. Sometimes buried in mass graves, sometimes burned and sometimes, the terrorist dead were placed in Argentine Air Force transport planes and dumped over the Atlantic Ocean. In the later case, the progressive-socialist-Marxist terrorists propagated wild tales of the Argentine military throwing live prisoners out of planes over the ocean. Yet, like most of the leftist propaganda, there was never any credible evidence to support the charges. That didn’t stop their ideological allies in the American and international media from disseminating these lies as though they were fact.

In the end, all freedom loving Argentines owe their late President, Jorge Videla, a debt of gratitude. His aggressive measures saved Argentina from a total collapse and Communist take over. While aggressive and controversial, Presidents Videla’s actions won the fight against the terrorists and he showed, that by doing what the US lacked the stomach to do in Viet Nam in his own country, any progressive-socialist-Marxist guerrilla-terrorist movement could be defeated by infiltration and interdiction through aggressive human and electronic intelligence. In fact, the techniques utilized by President Videla have been studied, refined and are in full use today by the western world in the ongoing global war against terrorism. In short, we all owe this late great President a debt of gratitude.

Yet what if President Videla had lacked the courage and fortitude to do what was necessary to save his country from the progressive-socialist-Marxist campaign of terror? Few objective observers would disagree that the people of Argentina would have faced a similar fate to those of the people who endured the communist takeovers in Cuba, South Vietnam, Cambodia or the eastern block. Undoubtedly hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Argentinians would have been really “disappeared” or worked to death in gulag style concentration camps or “reeducation centers.” Private property would have been seized and the due process of law would have been destroyed along most other freedoms just as it has been in virtually every other country which has been forcibly taken over by Communists.

Thank you President Jorge Videla! For those who still care about the truth, you are our hero.

Vivi Videla!
